A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Thanks for visiting my personal website. This is purely to keep you up to date on my racing, news and the things I experience as I race my bike all over the world.

Well as most of you already know I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on 6 December 1984. I have always been involved in sports, I played soccer for 7 years, tennis for 9 years, I raced mountain bikes for 4 years  before turning my attention completely to the road when I was 17 years old. My brother Grant and I always did every sport together and we still enjoy riding together these days, although he moved on to being an accountant. Probably better as we were both really competitive, sometimes we'd race just to beat each other. My parents have been involved in cycling their whole lives basically as my father was a professional cyclist in South Africa and now runs a very successful cycling shop called Tony Impey Cycles.

I attended Mondeor Primary when I was younger and spent my high school years at Jeppe High School for Boys, I was awarded full colours in Academics and for tennis. Cycling took over everything in those days and it still does.

I've been taken to some amazing places through cycling and my professional career has just started. I was SA U23 Champion in 2003 and have won many races in SA with my first big professional win in the 2008 Herald Sun Tour. I am an all-rounder with a good turn of speed. I love racing and life in Europe and I currently spend most of time living in Como,Italy. Currently racing for Team Barloworld and hoping for a big '09. I was wanting to start my first grand tour this year but a crash in Turkey put an end to that for '09.

I hope you will enjoy what I write and post and feel free to hit the Subscribe button to receive my regular newsletter. Also keep an eye on the gallery, I will be adding pictures and video's as soon as I receive them.
