What a race
I guess that is World Champs done and dusted for another year. The good news is that I am so happy with the improvements made from the past few years and to be there in the final has given me a lot of confidence for the next world championships. Most years I have missed the legs at around the 200km mark but this year I actually got through it really well and it was only the final climb that I couldn't follow the first 5 guys , but a good improvement . Unfortunately , my sprint to achieve a top 10 didn't work out but top 20 is still a good ride.

It was good to have guys like Robbie Hunter and Bosseau involved this year steering the ship for team SA and it brought a lot of stability to the group. Even with very little support compared to other nations I think we all had a really good result and talks are starting to happen about improving things for next year already .

We had a great vibe between the elite riders and on the day the plan was to look after me which Reinhardt and Jacques did and we stuck to the plan and although we never got a medal , we certainly gave it a good crack . The weather was miserable and doesn't really suit us but it was the same for everyone and I know that we have the legs to be going for the rainbow stripes one day.

We all know how hard cycling is and at the end of the day there is only one winner , and a deserved winner too. Michael is one of the nicest guys you will meet in the peloton and is a crafty bike rider , he deserved the win and I'm sure he will win a lot more races in the next few years.

Overall, it was a successful week and I'm really happy with the way my end of season has gone. Now off to Lombardia and Beijing before I have a break and head back to SA.
